Mountain Climbing Ecuador

Mountain Climbing Ecuador Chimborazo

Climbing Tours Ecuador, the Chimborazo is the highest mountain

in the Ecuadorian Andes and due to its close proximity to the

equator it is also the furthest point from the centre of the Earth.

Climbing the Chimborazo will offer a challenge to even the most

experienced mountaineer; it is a technically climb and the

long approach to reach the peak will certainly push your

physical limits. In addition to proper acclimatisation,

excellent physical condition is required to cover the

1.300-meter altitude difference between the Whymper Refuge

and the summit, a 9 to 12 hour trek over never-ending glaciers.

Challenge yourself and be one of the few who have left their

footprints on the most distant point from the earth's molten centre.

Break the 20,000 ft. barrier and stand on the furthest point from

the centre of the Earth. This is a physically challenging and the technical climb.

We meet at the agency at 8am. We will travel 4x4 for about 2 hours.

We go by 4x4 until the first refuge (4,800), then we will climb 1 hour

until the second refuge (5,000 m). There we will have a small snack

After dinner, we will prepare the equipment and we go to sleep...

SECOND DAY:
We wake up at midnight to start climbing to the summit. We need 6 to 7 hours to reach the top and 3 to 4 hours to descend. We will arrive to the top for sunrise. After a few photos, we return to the refuge. We have a meal and we have the opportunity to observe the flora and fauna in the
surrounding area. Our bus will pick us up before noon and finally we return to Baños.

THIRD DAY:
Before the climbing, you can have an extra day of acclimatization in the Reserve.
